Just got back from seeing Phantom of the Opera! It was great, the sets are amazing to me, especially during the the scene where all the candles come up from the floor. How on earth do they do that? Although I was expecting more from the falling chandelier.
We had fantastic seats upfront in the orchestra section in the very middle. Close enough to feel the heat when flames shot from the stage. The actors were all great! The phantom was very sympathetic, I wasn't really rooting for the phantom in the movie version, the the psychotic murdering stalker issues he had overwhelmed the whole feeling bad for him thing but with this phantom I was willing to overlook the insanity. I also like this Raul better than the movie, he was as annoying and poncey in the movie version.
Andrew Lloyd Webber is doing a sequel, I'm not sure how good it will be the plot summery from wikipedia sounds a kind of hard to buy.
I went yesterday to the biggest in our area. I didn't think it was as good as last year but I still got 24 books for $12. Mostly mysteries. It'll keep me reading for a little while.
I also joined LibraryThing to keep track of my collection. It is handy for finding duplicate books in your collection and keeping track of which books in a series you have.
I've made a vid before. I have every intention of making another someday as soon as I can get myself motivated. Given that it's been well over a year since I last vidded I'm not sure when it will happen but every time I hear a song I think 'hey, that might make a good fanvid for such and such' I jot down the song and the fandom and maybe what couple or character I would use it for. I've finally compiled all those slips of paper and made the complete list so far. If anybody sees a vid they would like to make based off my list, go ahead and go for it. I'd love to see your vid so send me a link okay? ( i'll put the list behind the cut because it's really long )
The article is here at Wired. They took pictures of the curvature of the earth with a helium filled weather balloon, a cheap digital camera, a styrofoam cooler, instant hand warmers and a prepaid phone with GPS so they could find it when it came down.
Since I'm happy that Jo will be back in season 5 of Supernatural, I've made icons from episode 2x14 Born Under a Bad Sign since that was the last time we saw her.
You can download 16 free e-books at Harlequin. I haven't read them yet so I can't say if they are any good but if you like romances you should check them out!
It's kind of a funny play. It's like all 7 books jammed into one musical parody. It's a bit long, like 20 parts, and Harry reminds me of James Van Der Beek (which isn't a good thing for me) I loved the girl who played Draco and I like Goyle and Quirrell/Voldemort. They cast the villians particularly well. If you've got the time check it out.
I went to see Charlie Daniels last weekend and wanted to post a couple of pics my sister took. We got rained out before it was over so we didn't get to gear The Devil went down to Georgia. :-(
My sister finally got her pool cleaned up, so I went swimming yesterday. Well, mostly I just floated around the pool on a blow up lounger. I put the sunscreen on pretty thick but I never reapplied it so now the parts of my body that don't get much sun like the tops of my legs are really burnt. Ouch! My sister didn't use sunscreen at all and looked like a lobster yesterday so i can only imagine how bad it is today.
Has anyone used a tan thru suit? I hate tan lines but I've never wanted to spend THAT much on a swimsuit especially one I can't try on and I don't even know if it really works.
